If you have some time to burn then take our quick quiz, designed to test even the most avid Ford fans! If anything at all, a bit of general knowledge gained of one of the most well-known car manufacturers in the world can only help during a pub quiz!
1) When was Ford founded?
2) What percentage stake does FMC own in Aston Martin?
3) What is Fordism?
4) When did Ford cease to produce cars in the UK?
The Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903, by Henry Ford. It produces cars, commercial vehicles along with luxury vehicles under its Lincoln brand in America. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Ford owns an 8% stake in Aston Martin, along with a 2.1% stake in Mazda and a 49% stake in Jiangling in China (I know we had not heard of it either!).
Fordism is a term that became widely known around the world by 1914. The FMC introduced methods for large-scale car manufacturing as well as large-scale management for a workforce of an industrial nature using moving assembly lines, a feat of engineering.
Ford stopped manufacturing cars in the UK in February 2002, marking the end of a 90 year manufacturing period in Britain. However they did continue to produce Transit vans until 2013 – we are thinking this could always be a trick question in a quiz!
