How Peugeot’s “Just Add Fuel” Scheme Works for Insurance and Fuel Costs
If you’re a young driver, you may have heard of Peugeot’s Just Add Fuel scheme. Targeting millennials, this insurance package aims to help young drivers afford their first car.
It’s no secret buying a first car can be extremely expensive, with young driver insurance often totalling thousands of pounds alone. However, is Peugeot’s scheme really giving you a better deal and how exactly does it work?
Understanding the scheme
The Just Add Fuel scheme is designed to help young drivers aged 18 and over, afford a new Peugeot model. There are five different models included in the scheme including:
- Peugeot 108
- Peugeot 208
- The new Peugeot 2008 SUV
- The Peugeot 308
- The Peugeot 308 SW
So how does it make it more affordable? Well, it includes three years’ insurance for up to three different drivers, along with three years’ tax, warranty, roadside assistance and servicing. It’s basically an all-inclusive finance package and the cost is spread out and paid monthly, making it even more affordable.
Is it the cheapest option?
Of course, on first glance, this scheme does appear to save millennials a lot of money. As it comes with everything included, it’s also really convenient and provides a huge peace of mind if something does go wrong.
However, it may not be the cheapest option available. As the scheme only applies to new Peugeot models, you’re looking at spending thousands of pounds. You may get to pay that back gradually, but it’s still a lot more than you’d pay if you were to buy a used Peugeot model.
Dealerships like Robins and Day, offer used Peugeots at fantastic affordable prices. Many of the models on offer are also in superb condition. You may not get everything included like you do with the Just Add Fuel scheme, but it is possible to shop around and find discounted deals on insurance, tax and roadside assistance. If you take the time to compare the different offers available, you could find that combined together, they are cheaper to buy separately than they are in the Just Add Fuel scheme.
Overall, the Just Add Fuel scheme is great for those who absolutely insist on a new model and who want the convenience of having everything included. However, it isn’t necessarily the cheapest option available to new drivers. So, it’s worth comparing your options before deciding whether or not to take advantage of the scheme.
